Accessibility statement
This statement applies to www.needmug.com. It covers the standard we hold the site to, how it was tested, and how to reach us if something does not work for you.
Our commitment
We aim to meet WCAG 2.2 level AA across this site. That is the standard the Equality Act 2010 is measured against in practice in the UK, and the standard EN 301 549 points at for the European Accessibility Act.
We sell accessibility audits. Holding our own site to the standard we audit other people against is the least we can do.
What we have done
The site was built to this standard from the first commit rather than corrected later.
- Semantic HTML: real landmarks, one h1 per page, headings that descend in order.
- Every control reachable and operable by keyboard, in a logical order, with no keyboard traps.
- A visible focus indicator on every focusable element, and a skip link to the main content.
- Text and interface colours checked against the WCAG AA contrast thresholds.
- Animation and scroll effects switched off under prefers-reduced-motion.
- Meaningful images carry alt text; decorative images are hidden from assistive technology.
- Fluid sizing throughout, so the layout reflows with the window rather than snapping between fixed widths.
How we tested
Automated tools catch a minority of the issues that matter, so the site is checked by hand as well as by a scanner.
- Automated scanning with axe-core against the rendered HTML of every page, in both languages.
- Contrast ratios calculated from the design tokens rather than judged by eye.
- A review by hand of every interactive component: tab order, focus handling, the mobile menu and the accordions.
